There are hotels, motels, backpacker resorts and apartments available in the City Centre, near Southbank as well as the cosmopolitan areas of Fortitude Valley and West End. Visitors needing accommodation near hospitals, the airport, Convention Centre or in the suburbs have many to select from.

As Brisbane is only an easy 1-hour drive to the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast staying in Brisbane is often a logical alternative for peope wanting to experience all the wonders of Southern Queensland.

Accommodation is dear in Brisbane and the Hotels are all out of the centre,  away from the transport, and not easy to get to unless you take a taxi.

I travel a lot through Brisbane and have to make sure I get flights that meet the Airport train, as that stops after 7pm and then you have to take taxis.

I have considered staying near the airport overnight but that is almost impossible, the nearest being past the city.

The most economical accommodation are the hostels. The transit Centre at Roma Street Station has a section for finding budget accommodation where you book your luggage into storage on the 4th floor. That is the best if you are not planning on 5 star accommodation. You can also book tours and bus trips from this section when the stands are manned. They are always emty when there are passengers wanting service.
