Took the Bus from the Dunwich Jetty to Lookout Point, and then walked the Gorge Walk which starts where the bus stops. It takes about 30 minutes, longer if you stop to watch dolphins and whales and visit the blowhole, and stop to chat to others as they do the walk. It is an easy walk, some of the steps may be daunting, but amble along and the views are breathtaking. https://plus.google.com/+MaggiCarstairs/posts/J2aWndRMSiD

If you walk early in the morning, and at dusk, you will see wallabies and birds, but at midday, when I did this walk, there was no wild life, just other tourists doing the walk. There were no dolphins this time, but the whales were dancing out on the horizon and I spent a long time watching them at play out on the horizon. Unless you had a camera with a long range zoom, the whales were not easy to photograph, but they were there and the water spouts were easy to help locate them.
As you climbed up the steps and around the other side of the Gorge, you came to the views of Main Beach where 38 kms of pristine sand continue to the end of North Stradbroke, and further on to South Stradbroke and then across the water to the Gold Coast. Walking the beach here is a delight many do not do. You walk over the grassed area at the end of the walk, and down to where the Surf Club is and then down to the sand. It is very beautiful and a wonderful walk. This is also the area for 4WD and driving on the beach. The entrance for the vehicles is further up the beach.
Here is the walk I did last time….. very time you do the walk it is different….
