Most properties have their own tip where rubbish is dumped. There are always broken down vehicles and bits of fences and wires and other stuff. All perishable refuse is placed in a huge pit and regularly burnt. Here you never see hordes of bin chickens or crows scavenging. The tip is very clean and tidy.

Feeding the Birds at Laura
Literally hundreds of Galahs queue up and patiently wait for the store to feed them around 5pm. They queue up on the powerline… I counted 64 on one powerline, and 5 lines is over 500 birds and there are as many on the ground waiting. When Harold comes with the container of crushed corn, theContinue reading “Feeding the Birds at Laura”
Crossing The River

Because it was hot and muggy, I ran a fan all night, and between sweating in a closed up van with the canopy down, I started coughing badly and getting chills and headaches. IContinue reading “Seaview at Cooktown”

I went to Lions Den for petrol and then decided to stay overnight here. Unpowered sites are $15, Powered $40 and cabins $120. I drove to the back where the camping area was and it was just beautiful. Tall shady trees and green grassy areas. The river was along the bottom, and you could swimContinue reading “Lions Den Rossville Queensland”
